A postpartum mom's RTW, or "return to work," can be fraught with anxiety weeks before it even happens!

Rest and recover while breastfeeding often in the early postpartum weeks

Sometimes, brand new moms who are still in the hospital following their delivery, get way ahead of themselves, and ask for guidance on building a stash for use when they go back to work. Even if you have to return to your job earlier than the typical 12 week maternity leave, you want to give yourself some time before you start planning your reemergence into the workforce. It's too overwhelming to think about leaving your baby when you've only just met him! Recovering from delivery, bonding with your baby, and establishing breastfeeding are the tasks at hand. If the back to work stress and anxiety start creeping in, plan to attend a support group during your maternity leave. You will learn about pumping, how to begin building that stash, and how to introduce a bottle. These things do not need to happen before about 3 weeks. So relax, and focus on getting to know your baby!
